Nyungwe National Park
Nestled across the majestic hills of southern Rwanda, Nyungwe National Park is the largest area of montane forest in East and Central Africa. It is also one of the oldest forests in Africa and as such is a remarkably rich centre of biodiversity, and is home to over 75 mammal species, 275 endemic and migratory bird species, 120 butterfly species and over 100 orchid species. Nyungwe is most alluring for its primates, 13 species in all, including humankind’s closest living relative the chimpanzee.
